thunder::tech was recently placed on Inc. Magazine’s Inc. 5000 list
. This is a list of the fastest growing companies in the country based on three year revenues. Our marketing agency made the list this year and we were in the top 100 in the state of Ohio & top 30 in the Cleveland Metro Area (where we’re headquartered).
Here’s the thing: I’m very happy, but not elated to have made the list. We feel like we’re just getting the ball rolling.
Our integrated marketing agency model has been deliberately planned and built over the past decade. We’ve executed and supported this model, day in and day out as a team, always doing the right thing for our clients and starting all over the next day. That type of consistency is tough in any business, but when you string years of that together, it all looks easy.
How we’ve grown
The agency leadership has exercised a strategic growth plan over the past several years. It has evolved, but it’s been our guide to become what we believe an integrated marketing agency
should be. I’d boil down our steps into a couple of basic principles:
- Our people are awesome. We only bring in team players. Team players that give a shit about their clients and want to wake up every morning to do great work and help someone.
- We’re a marketing agency. As a marketing agency (and not a PR firm, web shop, ad agency, etc.) that integrates skill sets, we can talk to clients about marketing solutions versus services since all of these options are in house.
- Customer service isn’t lip service. You don’t ever win work because of it, but it can certainly help you keep it.
- We’re nimble. It’s up to the client how we should work together. After all, they’re the ones writing us the check.
Obviously, a huge way that we’ve grown is through working with our great clients. In any professional service industry, including the marketing field, we’re completely reliant on relationships. We’ve found success by pairing our marketing agency model with clients that appreciate it and by being choosy with those clients that we interact with. thunder::tech isn’t right for every client. We look for clients that have a “challenger mentality” and want to go after whoever their Goliath is. These types are interested in innovation, want the education we supply and are willing to step out of their comfort zone in order to grow. For those many clients that have fit this mold and have chosen thunder::tech as their integrated marketing agency partner – we thank you.
I believe that if we stick to our game plan, thunder::tech will continue to be a consistent growth company. We don’t follow our plan to just win awards, but to develop consistent, organic growth year over year by creating great work, taking care of our customer, educating them about the changing marketing landscape and keeping innovation in our blood.
What I do really appreciate is that this award from Inc. Magazine is an external validation to our team that what we’re doing works in a national context. So, congratulations to the team today and I can’t wait until tomorrow!
