Surely you have seen and fallen in love with one or two Pixar movies. Maybe it was Woody and Buzz Lightyear in Toy Story, or that loveable robot, WALL-E. But did you know the same technology is commonly used in commercials and online videos?
Here are a few animations we LOVE!
Box - Abstract
thunder::tech is a lot of things. We could just list them for you, but that might be kind of boring. Maybe we could just tell you. No… that’s no good either. How about a spiffy animation? Not a bad idea, huh?
We aren’t showing you most of these services—you can view
our portfolio for that. That’s not what this is about, and it would be pretty overwhelming if we showed you all of them. By simplifying it a bit, the viewer can take in everything.
Paint Chips - Toon
If you find yourself watching a lot of HGTV, you have probably seen one or two of the new Sherwin Williams 30-second spots. Their new animated campaign, created by the agency Buck, pushes the bounds of traditional 3-D animation by not just trying to recreate a scene, but by recreating it out of paint chips. Creating this effect using traditional video would take a team of brilliant stop motion animators and loads of time.
A toon-style animation is a great way to sell a feeling or an emotion, rather than a product itself. This animated campaign isn’t about your living room walls or your new deck—heck, it isn’t even about paint—it’s all about color.
Silestone - Photoreal
Here’s one you probably haven’t seen and you may not believe us when we say this is entirely
3-D animation. No video whatsoever. Seriously.
This 60-second piece by Alex Roman for Silestone turns countertops into indestructible works of art. They are beautiful and they last forever. What more do you need? Everything in this scene looks good enough to bake into a pie, but then something happens—peppers exploding, fruit falling upwards. To do this with video, you would need loads of liquid nitrogen and some time in lower orbit.
Using 3-D in your next video campaign could be a really fun, exciting way to tell your story. It creates a memorable experience for the viewer and helps them see your product or service in an entirely new light. Whether it’s an abstract, toon or photoreal animation, thunder::tech can help! Check out our portfolio and give us a call today!
