Our 2012 recap series ends with a word from our Creative department

posted by Design

Our end-of-year chatter series wraps up with a joint post from our Creative Director Craig Israel and our Manager of Multimedia Services Matt Stevens. Find out what projects and innovative techniques the Creative team took on in 2012 and how the team applied thunder::tech's four guiding principles to their work.

The Creative team had a great year in 2012, culminating in the welcoming of new team members, exploration of new technologies and celebrating some great wins with our clients. And, as always, our efforts were guided by the principles that have helped get us to where we are today: customer service, innovation, education and great work.

Customer Service

At thunder::tech, customer service means more than just being responsive to our clients and delivering on our promises (although we certainly do that); it means seeking out new ways to collaborate internally to create the best and most efficient solutions. To that end, the Creative team continued to find new ways to integrate with other departments on projects of all types.

Attention to detail in professional post production

posted by Video

The script has been written, planning is complete, the shots have been acquired and it's a wrap on production. Now it's time for post production where we put the whole video together. Aside from the things that are most noticeable (editing, graphics), there are many little but important things that go on in this phase that often go unnoticed—and if done right, they shouldn't be noticeable. That said, they really add polish to a video and it can be noticeable if they’re not done at all.

Dialog editing & audio sweetening
Viewers are more likely to forgive bad picture vs. bad sound. Therefore, clear, intelligible audio is a very important production aspect. Ideally, we've captured good audio on set so we shouldn't have to do much repair. That said, there are often factors we can't control such as air conditioning noise or a person's voice just not being very clear. These are things we can fix, reduce or enhance in post-production audio.

Digital signage everywhere: B2B (Part 2 of 2)

posted by Video

This is part two of two in our digital signage chatter series. We previously talked about digital signage uses for business-to-consumer (B2C) companies. Now, we'll focus on business-to-business (B2B) uses.

Events::
While B2B companies aren't trying to catch the attention of consumers, they still need to impress their potential customers and clients. One of the most obvious uses of B2B digital signage uses is at trade shows. I recently attended NAB Show (a video production/broadcasting conference), where almost everyone had some sort of digital display. At a show were everyone is involved in video/broadcast technology, you really need to do something big or unique to stand out. If you are in most other industries however, you can probably make your booth stand out using digital signage without breaking the bank.
