More than two weeks ahead of Super Bowl XLVII, a clear trend has emerged for what we can expect from the big game’s highly anticipated commercials: Crowdsourcing will be king on the advertising industry’s signature night.
Six national brands have announced campaigns for Super Bowl Sunday all built on the same premise: Encourage fans to submit content through Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or a special website. Pick the best of the bunch, and include it in a Super Bowl commercial.

Facebook has again rocked our marketing brains. Today, Facebook didn’t just simply announce a new Timeline company page profile; a deeper look
unveils a lot of implications this will have on your Facebook marketing
strategy. Below are some items you need to consider for your company
page before Facebook automatically pushes the new Timeline live for
everyone on March 30, 2012. It’s A LOT of information, so bear with us,
scroll the subheads. (We now know why Facebook’s presentation was five
hours long.)
NO ADVERTISING ALLOWED IN YOUR TIMELINE COVER PHOTO
Facebook
has already posted guidelines for designing a cover photo for your
brand page. The cover photo is a large image that will span across the
top of your brand page. As a marketer, your first thought is probably,
“What a great space to promote specials, discounts, new products and
offers!” Not so fast my friend…Facebook will not allow this. The below
is an excerpt straight from Facebook:

Not too long ago, we outlined some social media trends for 2012 on our blog. One of our predictions included a call for social customer service to improve, and what we’ve seen lately has been less than impressive.
Palm Springs: Visitors bureaus should be cashing in.
I recently tagged along with my husband to Palm Springs, Calif. He had a conference to attend. Me, well, I didn’t have to do much of anything but lie by the pool (I know, I can feel your jealousy from here). Vacation or no vacation, if you truly have a passion for social media, you’re always experimenting and testing.
We arrived on Super Bowl Sunday and because we are not very familiar with the area or its local sports bars, I decided to tweet to the visitors bureau to see if they could provide any recommendations.

On Thursday, Jan. 19, techies, fan boys and the like gathered at the
Guggenheim Museum in New York for an education event hosted by Apple.
There, Phillip Schiller, Apple’s vice president of worldwide marketing,
unveiled some great new innovations for the education community. A new
version of their e-reader app, updates to their university Web portal
and an e-book creation tool.
Let’s start with that last one… iBooks Author.
It is a new desktop app available only on Mac OSX Lion. It allows
anyone to create an e-book. Anyone. For free. Users can then publish
their book to the iBookstore or iTunes U (more on those in a minute).
But the really great thing here isn’t that anyone can create and publish
a book. The exciting part about this is that Apple is pioneering a relatively new format.
It isn’t just a book. It’s more than words on a page. Apple gives users
access to a wealth of multi-touch widgets. Interactivity. Additionally,
users can add videos, keynote presentations and interactive 3-D
objects.
