Social media platforms change so frequently, who can keep up? The image sizes alone seem to update on one platform or another almost monthly. I frequently ask (or shout crazily to myself rather), “What size is this image supposed to be?” when posting content. When memorization fails, us social media folks always end up bugging our teammates or doing a quick Google search to find out what size our next Facebook photo should be. Well, I’m personally tired of the guessing game and weighing whether or not the website I’m referencing has the right pixel ratio or not.
It’s social media chaos.
So we here at thunder::tech have created these handy dandy tip sheets to keep you sane and help make your visual social media content fabulous. Please feel free to download and print these sheets and then proclaim your defeat against the social media madness. Congratulations.

YouTube One Channel
YouTube is preparing for the switch to a new channel layout, the YouTube One Channel. Although users have had the opportunity to apply the new layout since March, beginning June 5, all accounts will be automatically switched over to the format.
So what’s the deal with YouTube One Channel? It makes your branding the same across all devices—mobile, tablets, TVs and desktops. Another great feature is the option to add a video trailer that can only be viewed by users who aren’t currently subscribed to your channel. This allows brands to tell viewers what the channel is about and convince them to subscribe.
The new features of YouTube One Channel include::
- Channel trailer: Like any first impression, it is important to make it count! Now you can upload an enticing trailer video that only appears to users who aren’t currently subscribed to your channel.
- Ability to curate content: Whether it be your own or another users’ content, channel owners can now curate content and organize videos into playlists. With more control and customization, you can set up your channel to look just the way you want to better serve your subscribers.
- Scales to all devices: Channel Art will now scale to fit any screen size making a more simplified and appealing user experience no matter the viewer’s device.
