This is not a political post. It is a project management and sponsorship lesson. Being a developer and project manager for many big projects for 11 years at thunder::tech has taught me quite a few lessons. And seeing the current firestorm that is Healthcare.gov really makes me feel for the folks that are trying to use the website, as it just adds frustration to an already very sensitive process.
It also makes me feel a sense of understanding, compassion and pity for those that were involved in building the web application, as I know the issues that arise with ambitious builds. I am running with the assumption that these were bright, seasoned professionals executing this project. And I think most should assume that unless actual rosters are revealed from CGI. I am of the belief they would be diligent about the talent. With that said, I want to set that expectation of sufficient talent to emphasize the point that even seasoned and professional team rosters can deliver shoddy results without proper management and communication.Read More...
